The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, fsssn,(Walin Zazzau, Suleja) has applauded the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) for training staff of the institution on Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI) on Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and the Internet and Office Productivity Tools (IOPTs).
The Vice-Chancellor gave this commendation while declaring the five-day training closed on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Centre for Preliminary & Extra-Mural Studies (CPES), Bosso Campus, Minna.
Prof. Bala said the training would add value to the University’s excellent performance as a leading institution in the country, especially in the area of service delivery. He commended participants for their cooperation with the Instructors, adding that the 97 per cent attendance ratio is a demonstration of participants’ willingness to learn and improve their IT skills.
The don further expressed delight to the resource persons from DBI and the Institution’s Information and Technology Service (ITS) Unit for their patience and expertise during the training. He described the sessions as very exciting and practical-oriented, noting that the ultimate objective of the training which was to upgrade their IT skills was achieved.
“We are leaving here happy because we have learnt new things. I also wish to urge all participants to please keep practicing; not just to go home and keep the certificate,” the first-rate professor advised.
Prof. Bala also thanked the Director of ITS for coordinating the training and the Director of CPES for making the facilities available for the training.
Earlier in his address, the Manager Research and Publications Unit, DBI, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nzeih expressed appreciation to the University’s Management for the superb hospitality accorded the DBI team, even as he revealed that they are never in hurry to leave the institution anytime they come for training because of the treat given to them by the University.
Mr. Nzeih thanked the Vice-Chancellor for always being early for the training as well as not missing any session throughout the training – a development he described as leadership by example.
“For DBI to have trained the Vice-Chancellor of this great University for five days without the Vice-Chancellor giving any excuse to be absent is an endorsement for us. This will further enhance the profile of DBI as a top notch IT Institute in the country,” he disclosed.
In his remarks, the Director of the University’s Information & Technology Service (ITS), Dr. Mohammed Adamu commended all the participants for rounding off the training successfully, particularly the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bala for paying rapt attention through the training without any form of distractions.
Dr. Adamu advised participants to put all what they have learnt into practice in the daily discharge of their duties in the university. He thanked DBI for the training and solicited for more trainings for other staff of the University in the years ahead.
The Director further appreciated the University’s Management for always supporting ITS, particularly in the area of capacity-building for staff of the University.
The Director of CPES, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Saidu, Mrs. Hadiza Goje of the Bursary Department, Arc. Isiaka Ahmadu Sezou and Rahmat Yahaya Muh’D on behalf of other participants took turns to narrate their experiences and appreciation to the University Management and DBI for organizing the training.
