FUTMINNA POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL HOLDS TWO-DAY RETREAT TO STRENGTHENS POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS

The Postgraduate School , Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT, Minna) hosted a two-day retreat aimed at revising the rules, guidelines, and curriculum for postgraduate programs. The opening, held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the School of Information and Communication Technology Lecture Theatre, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, who emphasized the role of postgraduate programs as central to the University’s mission due to their focus on research.

In his welcome address, Prof. Kuta highlighted the importance of the retreat in enhancing the postgraduate experience and expressed his hope for a productive outcome. He noted that the purpose of the retreat was to leverage the expertise of all attendees, aiming for a comprehensive communique to guide future improvements.

Dean of the Postgraduate School, Prof. Oladiran K. Abubakre, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, the university’s management, and all contributors. He stressed the need for a forward-looking approach to ensure that postgraduate programs align with the evolving demands of research and scholarship globally.

Prof. John K. Alhassan, Director of Academic Planning and co-host of the event, spoke on the significance of updating the master’s and Ph.D. curricula. He noted that adapting to changing trends is vital for maintaining quality and relevance in postgraduate education.

The retreat gathered Senate members, postgraduate board members, coordinators, and other stakeholders, all dedicated to fostering excellence and setting higher standards in postgraduate education at FUT, Minna.
