FUTMINNA, CEIS LTD PARTNER TO ESTABLISH LPG DEPOT, CNG CONVERSION PLANT

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Creative Edge Innovative Services (CEIS) Ltd to develop a Mini Gas Depot for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production and a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conversion Plant. This initiative aims to promote alternative energy sources to petroleum, providing a safer and more cost-effective fuel option for vehicles nationwide.

During the MoU signing ceremony at the Academic Publishing Centre, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta emphasized the university’s commitment to swift and full implementation of the agreement. He cautioned against any lack of commitment from the partner after signing.

Under the MoU, FUT, Minna will provide land for the project on a lease basis, while CEIS Ltd will finance infrastructure, equipment procurement, and operational costs.

Speaking at the event, CEIS Ltd MD/CEO Mr. Sheriff Lawanson highlighted the company’s dedication to leveraging technology for efficient energy solutions. He stressed the importance of reducing reliance on kerosene and petroleum, which contribute to environmental pollution. Additionally, he noted that the partnership would offer training and awareness programs on CNG benefits for the university and surrounding community.

Prof. Israel Olayemi, Director of the Directorate for Collaborations, Affiliations, and Linkages (DCAL), outlined the mutual benefits of the collaboration. These include revenue generation for the University, training opportunities for staff and students, and employment prospects for FUT, Minna graduates.

The MoU was officially signed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kuta and University Registrar Mallam Danladi Mallam on behalf of FUT, Minna , while Mr. Sheriff Lawanson represented CEIS Ltd.
