FUTMINNA’S CLEAN TECH INNOVATIONS IMPRESS FEDERAL MINISTRY OF INNOVATION, SCIENCE , TECHNOLOGY

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has been lauded for its groundbreaking contributions to clean technology during a three-day engagement under the Global CleanTech Innovation Programme (GCIP). Representing the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Principal Scientific Officer and GCIP Coordinator, Hannah Amayo Iruvwe, expressed deep admiration for the University’s innovative capacity, describing the technologies showcased as “beyond comprehension.”

Iruvwe made these remarks during the exit meeting held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus. She commended the University’s School of Infrastructure, Process Engineering and Technology (SIPET) and the School of Electrical Engineering and Technology (SEET) for their groundbreaking contributions and urged them to continue pushing boundaries.

“The University is playing a pivotal role in advancing CleanTech innovation,” she noted, emphasizing the need to translate these ideas into real world solutions. Iruvwe assured the University of the Ministry’s intention to strengthen collaboration and pledged to submit a comprehensive report to the ministry for follow-up action.

She also announced that the outcomes of the engagement would be formally presented in a webinar scheduled for July 15, 2025. The university was requested to nominate key officials and the GCIP focal person to participate in the session, after which a webinar link would be provided.

Responding on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, described the engagement as one of the University’s most enriching academic exchanges in recent times. He reiterated FUT, Minna ‘s commitment to CleanTech research and development in partnership with the ministry.

Prof. Kuta highlighted the University’s ambition to become a national and global centre of excellence in CleanTech innovation. He also emphasized FUT, Minna’s dedication to community service, research, and teaching, while noting the importance of its patenting unit in ensuring that research outputs translate into tangible societal benefits.
