MACHOFO EMERGES FUTMINNA SU PRESIDENT IN PEACEFUL POLLS

It was cheering news for students of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) as Comrade Adaidu Ezekiel Machofo, 400 Level student of Chemical Engineering Department, emerged President of the Students’ Union (SU) for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The results were announced live on Search FM by the Students’ Union Independent Electoral Committee (SUEIC) Chairman, Prof. Adamu Yusuf Kabiru, shortly after the polls.The closely contested elections held on Saturday, 13th September, 2025, at the e-Centre, Main Campus.

Machofo won decisively with 1,737 votes, accounting for 62% of the total votes cast, defeating his opponent, Comrade Mustapha Wasiu Abodunrin, a 400 Level, Agricultural Economics and Farm Management student, who got 1,071 votes (38%).

The election also produced other members of the Students’ Union Executive Council (SU EXCO) as well as representatives for the Students’ Representative Assembly (SRA).

During an inspection visit, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Uno Essang Uno, commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the elections. He said the process demonstrated SUEIC’s dedication to credible and smooth elections, as well as the maturity of the students.

After the election, SUEIC Chairman and SERVICOM Focal Officer, Prof. Kabiru, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support, and thanked committee members, staff, and students for their cooperation throughout the process.

“We sincerely appreciate the Vice-Chancellor for his trust and support. I also want to thank my fellow committee members, staff, and students for their patience, cooperation, and dedication, which made this exercise a success. By the special grace of God, we will continue to work hard to ensure credible elections that truly reflect the students’ will,” Prof. Kabiru stated.
