FUTMINNA A GIANT, LEADING UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA – VC

The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala, FSSSN has assured new Postgraduate students that they would not regret choosing FUT, Minna, as the institution has become a giant and leading university in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Prof. Bala stated this during the 7th Matriculation Ceremony of the postgraduate students for 2021/2022 academic session held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Centre for Preliminary and Extra-Mural Studies Hall, Bosso Campus.

He said FUT, Minna is one of the very few Universities of Technology established in 1983 by the Federal Government to meet the Nation’s desire for self-sufficiency in Science and Technology and that the University has remained true to the dream and aspiration of the founding fathers.

“We in FUT Minna, are proud of this legacy and we are proud that we continue to serve as a flagship University in Nigeria. We are today the best specialized university in this country. We have consistently remained among the top ten universities in Nigeria and have consistently remained among the top hundred government universities in Africa”.

The VC noted that successes recorded by the University so far was because of the diligence and commitment of not only its staff but also its students, especially the postgraduate students. He urged them to be very committed and show good diligence in their work. “Take your admission seriously and use the opportunity to ensure that you go through the program successfully and graduate,” he advised.

Prof. Bala congratulated them and advised that they read through the Postgraduate booklet which contains information on the rules and regulations guiding the administration of postgraduate programmes in the University.

The Registrar of the University, Mr. Amos N. Kolo represented by the Deputy Registrar (Academic) Mrs. Aishat Usman administered the matriculation oath.

The breakdown of candidates who applied to the University for postgraduate programmes shows that for PhD, 284 applied but only 240 were admitted out of which only 184 registered; Masters; 1,144 applied out of which 918 were admitted and only 668 registered while 222 applied for PGD, out of which 142 secured admission and only 82 registered.
