Divine Prince Daniel, a 400-level student from the Department of Computer Science, has won the Students’ Union presidential election at the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna) for the 2024/2025 academic session. Daniel secured 2,010 votes to clinch the presidency in a closely watched contest.
The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Students’ Union Independent Electoral Committee (SUIEC) and the University’s SERVICOM Focal Officer, Prof. Adamu Y. Kabiru. The election, held on Saturday, 17th August 2024, at the e-Centre of the Main Campus, was conducted via an electronic voting system, ensuring efficiency and transparency.
Prof. Kabiru commended the students for their exemplary conduct throughout the election, which was characterized by a peaceful and orderly atmosphere. He acknowledged the cooperative spirit of the university community, which contributed to the smooth and successful conclusion of the election.
Expressing gratitude to the university management, electoral committee members, staff, and students, Prof. Kabiru congratulated both the winners and the other candidates. He urged those who did not win to see the experience as an opportunity to learn and prepare for future leadership roles.
In a tightly contested race, Akuh Emmanuel Kedonojo finished in second place with 1,896 votes, while Ujah Anthony Oche secured 632 votes to place third.
With this victory, Daniel’s leadership marks a new chapter for the FUTMinna student body, as he steps into the role with a commitment to steer the student community forward with vision and dedication in the coming year.
