Leveraging technological innovations and entrepreneurial skills has been identified as crucial for boosting global competitiveness and achieving long-term economic growth. This was the key message from the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, at the 10th Hybrid International Conference held at the University’s Centre for Preliminary and Extra-mural Studies (CPES) Lecture Complex, Bosso Campus, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
The conference, organized by the School of Science and Technology Education (SSTE), was themed, “Emerging Technology and Innovative Pedagogy for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development.”
In his opening remarks, delivered by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Uno E. Uno, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted how technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are revolutionizing industries, optimizing business processes, and creating new opportunities. He emphasized that these advancements are reshaping daily life and underscored the importance of the conference in fostering collaboration between policymakers, educators, and entrepreneurs to integrate these technologies with innovative pedagogical approaches to drive entrepreneurship and national economic growth.
“By merging cutting-edge technologies with modern teaching practices, students will be better equipped with the skills needed to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving economy,” Prof. Kuta stated.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Stephen Johnson Mitchual, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana.
A key event during the ceremony was the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Multimedia Audio-Visual Studio at the SSTE, led by the keynote speaker.
