The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, received the newly appointed Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aishat Sa’adu, on a familiarisation visit to the institution. The meeting took place at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.
In her remarks, Corps Commander Sa’adu explained that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the existing synergy between the Corps and the University, particularly in the areas of road safety education, data sharing for research, and collaboration on transport-related studies. She noted that the FRSC is ready to provide students and researchers with relevant data on road safety and transportation in Nigeria, adding that the Corps will also continue to support the University’s Driving School to ensure it operates at full capacity.
She further appealed for FUT. Minna’s continued support for FRSC personnel who wish to pursue further studies or enhance their academic qualifications at the institution.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kuta, assured the Corps Commander of the University’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the FRSC. He commended the Corps for its role in supporting the University’s Entrepreneurship Driving School to meet national standards. The Vice-Chancellor also disclosed that the University would, at intervals, invite FRSC officers to deliver sensitisation lectures for management, staff, and students on road safety practices and preventive measures.
Prof. Kuta added that FUTMINNA has a Department of Transport and Logistics and is in the process of securing approval for a programme in Supply Chain Management Technology. He emphasized that the University looks forward to tapping into the wealth of expertise of FRSC personnel to enrich teaching, research, and practical training in these areas.
