The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, today, Monday 1 December 2025, received the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation team on a visit to the Department of Library and Information Science (LIS), School of Science and Technology Education (SSTE). The meeting held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, Main Campus.
The delegation, led by Prof. Mansur Usman Malumfashi, explained that the purpose of the visit is to evaluate the programme in line with NUC standards. He said the team would review facilities, the curriculum, staff qualifications and development, the staff, student ratio, and the department’s library resources, particularly the e-library, considering the institution’s status as a University of Technology. According to him, accreditation exercises help highlight institutional strengths and recommend areas for further improvement.
In his remarks, Prof. Kuta appreciated the NUC for its consistent accreditation processes, noting that they contribute significantly to the growth and quality assurance of Nigerian universities. He emphasised that regular accreditation keeps institutions focused and accountable, ensuring that standards are upheld.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the team of the University’s full cooperation throughout the exercise. He added that FUT, Minna is prepared to accept and work on the outcome of the assessment to further strengthen the LIS Department and advance the University’s academic excellence.
Members of the NUC team present included Prof. Munir Abdullahi Kamba and Mr. Bashir I. Isah. Also in attendance were the Dean, SSTE, Head of Department, LIS, the Director of Academic Planning, and other University officials.
