The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna has been recognized as one of the Top 10 universities in West Africa in the 2026 edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, as reported by Business Insider Africa. The 2026 rankings evaluated 2,191 universities across 115 countries and territories worldwide.
According to the latest release, FUT, Minna is ranked 9th in West Africa and placed within the 1201–1500 global scale. The ranking is based on key performance indicators, including Teaching, research environment, research quality, industry income, and international outlook.
Reacting to the announcement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta expressed delight at the University’s continued rise in global and regional standings. He noted that under his visionary leadership, FUT, Minna has achieved remarkable milestones ranking 7th best in Nigeria, 9th in West Africa, and 68th in Africa.
He described the achievement as a testament to the collective dedication of staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders, emphasising that the University remains committed to sustained excellence.
According to him, the institution will not relent in its pursuit of higher standards and is determined to consolidate its gains while striving to become one of the top three universities in Nigeria and beyond.
