The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdullahi Bala fsssn has re-echoed his determination to ensure that students who win medals and laurels for the institution are honoured during convocation ceremonies.
He stated this on Monday, July 26, 2021 at the presentation of the University’s male football team to the Management by the University Sports Committee Chairman, Prof. Abdulrasheed Ojutiku, at the Senate Chamber, Main Campus, Gidan Kwanu.
Prof. Bala said, as a policy, the decision to honour victorious students was taken to reward their services to the University and to encourage others in getting the best out of every positive engagement they find themselves.
The Vice-Chancellor who recalled that he represented his school during his heydays in handball, volleyball and football at the faculty level commended the players and the management of the team for willingness to represent the University in spite of their academic demands.
He advised the team to compete fairly as the University is not bent on winning at all cost, stressing the need for them to be good ambassadors of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the University is blessed with talents capable of representing the country at any level due to their quality and dedication to compete.
He assured the team of the Management’s support in terms of finance and logistics and promised to reward each of the players handsomely.
Presenting the team to the Management, the University Sports Committee Chairman, Prof. Ojutiku appreciated the the Management of the University for their Support and care to the University Sports Committee.
Prof. Ojutiku who was accompanied by his Deputy, Dr. Abu Ogaji and the Deputy Director University Sports Unit, Mall. Saidu Musa said that the University’s football team has advanced to the round of 16 of the Nigeria Universities Games
Principal Officers present at the event are: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Emmanuel Emeka Udensi; Registrar, Mr. Amos Nmadu Kolo; Bursar, Mrs. Hadiza Goje and the University Librarian, Dr. Katamba Abubakar Saka.
