The Federal University of Technology, Minna, through its Entrepreneurship Centre, has formally launched the FUTEC Driving School. The event took place on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Centre’s premises, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Director of the Centre, Prof. Muibat D. Yahaya, explained that although the driving school began skeletal operations in 2022, the formal launch marks a new phase of standardization and expansion. She noted that the school was established to promote road safety education, driver training and certification, entrepreneurship development, and community awareness.
To strengthen its operations, the Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Naghya Driving School, Minna, which has helped in delivering quality training and graduating several students.
In his remarks, Staff Training Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Dzarma Ahijo, commended the school’s facilities, describing them as top-notch. He highlighted the quality of the vehicles, the CBT centre, and the driving simulation tools.
“A driving school is a business of saving lives,” he emphasized, urging the Centre to sustain the high standards. Ahijo also underscored that driving is a professional career that demands strict adherence to safety protocols.
