School of Electrical and Engineering Technology (SEET) and School of Infrastructure, Process Engineering Technology (SIPET), Federal University of Technology, Minna has organized a three day workshop for Technologists on the use of Skill G equipment.
The opening ceremony took place on Tuesday November 8,2022, at the SIPET Board Room, Main Campus.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Abdulahi Bala fsssn, while declaring the ceremony open recalled that back in the year 2011 the beginning of skill G came with supply of some equipment that lead to the establishment of central teaching laboratory.
The Vc said training itself is not an end by itself but a means to an end and as an institution it is important that the trainees are not only challenged to do things but to provide them with the necessary tools.
He further expressed his pleasure, on the selection of the team members as it was not done out of sentiments, due process was followed.
Earlier, in her welcome remark, the Dean SIPET, Engr. Prof. Zinash D Osunde, said FUT Minna has been collaborating with Skill G equipment since 2011. And this year, a letter was sent to train some technologists from various universities, according to her the training will address four areas, namely;Autotronics , Electronics, Mechatronics, Refrigeration and Air conditioning (RAC).
She said the training is a specialized training and not just a one school affair but for all Engineering, so they can move along with time, as everything now is about automation, electronics. And with this training the institution wants to keep a close relation with TETFUND and Skill G.
Prof Osunde further stated that the training is the outcome of the Five day workshop the trainers had in Abuja. Adding that, one of their responsibility is to train others who were not opportune to go to Abuja. “This is the first of such training and hope that such training will be repeated until every technologist is trained within the two schools and to also pass it to the students “ she stated.
She advised the trainees to take the training serious and ensure a hundred percent attendance, as it will be of benefit to them as well as the University.
The facilitators for the Skill G training are, Engr Obasa Peter (Autotronics), Engr. Bamidele A Dada (Electronics), Engr. Kehinde Bello ( Mechatronics), Engr. Osayi Anthony Odia (Refrigeration and Air cooling).
