The Senate of the Federal University of Technology Minna has commended the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdullahi Bala fsssn for the laudable achievements his administration had recorded in the institution during the last 5 years.
The commendations were made by some members of the Senate at its valedictory session held in honour of the outgoing Vice Chancellor on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the University Auditorium, Main Campus Gidan Kwano.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor Designate and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta said that Prof. Bala’s leadership style has actually shaped staff orientations both physically and spiritually stressing that, the leadership has succeeded in instilling in them the culture of respect for time.
Prof. Kuta who assured that posterity and history would always remember the outgoing Vice Chancellor for the indelible mark he had made in the University also recalled that during the last five years of his tenure, research outputs and quality of teaching in the university had increased, the ranking of the institution had improved and the employebility of the graduates was rated one of the bests in the country.
Also speaking at the valedictory session, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Emmanuel Emeka Udensi fnip, who chaired the Session, eulogised the outgoing Vice Chancellor for the number of achievements realised under his watch.
He recalled that during Prof. Bala’s tenure, 23 projects were commissioned in the last convocation which include School of Life Sciences, School of Physical Sciences and School of Post Graduate among many others.
Prof. Udensi further commended Prof. Bala for his adherence to the institution’s tradition of monthly Senate meeting, open door policy which made the Vice Chancellor readily available not only for the staff but also students and the regular promotion exercise, adding that has actually culminated into the number of people we have in the Senate today.
