As the tenure of Prof. Abdullahi Bala FSSSN the 7th substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Minna attained its penultimate stage, some members of the University:s Congregation gave testimonies on his outstanding performance, describing his landmark achievements especially in the area of Infrastructural developments as the process of transforming the institution into a mini Dubai.
These testimonies were given during the Valedictory session at the University Special Congregation meeting held in honour of the outgoing Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Bala, FSSSN on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the University Auditorium, Main Campus, Gidan Kwano.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Registrar, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Mal. Abubakar Mahmud said the outgoing Vice Chancellor was born great having steadily distinguished himself among his equals throughout his educational career. He further stated that Prof. Bala is credited to be the first Vice Chancellor who has not only commissioned numerous projects during the last convocation but had also successfully moved three schools from Bosso Campus to the Main Campus.
Also speaking, an internal council member, Prof. Sa’idu Muhammad said the outgoing Vice Chancellor is a visionary and a servant leader who always work hard to ensure that his vision comes to reality.
In her testimony, The University Legal Officer, Barr. Mrs. Evelyn Hussaini Makun attributed the progress made in the University Legal Services Unit to the resilient and hard working nature of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, adding that when Prof. Bala came on board, the Unit has a number of cases, but owing to his support, the unit won 8 out of the 10 cases in the court .
Responding, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Bala FSSSN, expressed uptimism that the incoming Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta would greatly outperform him if given the enabling environment and supports to exercise his statutory responsibility, adding that, prof. Kuta appeared to be more experienced than him in terms of how a university system operates for he has held several positions including Head of Department, Deputy Dean, Deputy Director, Director, SIWES coordinator and Executive Member of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), FUT, Minna.
He also reiterated his appreciation for the testimonies and the supports he enjoyed from all members of staff during the last five years, stressing that the successes his administration was able to achieved can be attributed to the kind of hard work and relentless efforts putting in by individual member of staff in the University.
Prof Bala who further assured that he will always be available at any time to render his services to the University at an advisory capacity when called upon, also enjoyed all members of staff to continue to support the incoming Vice Chancellor the way he was supported.
